Day 3 of Nam Dam to Lung Tam descends through Tay fields into the commune — ten kilometres, four to five hours walking — then ninety minutes at the cooperative watching weaving, dye vats and finished cloth before late lunch and road transfer toward Ha Giang city.

Driving direct to Lung Tam skips two valleys and the forest ridge that give the trek its context. The walk is how you understand why the cloth matters here — you arrive tired, having slept in Dao and Hmong homes, not fresh from air-conditioned minibus.

Purchases go straight to cooperative — we take no margin. Optional but many guests buy scarf, table runner or yardage after watching weavers work.

Guides based in each valley run these routes weekly in season — they know which bridge to skip after rain, which household hosts lunch rotation, and when flagpole or cooperative crowds peak. That local judgment is part of the product, not an upsell. Fitness labels on the hub are conservative: Moderate means full days on uneven farm paths with homestay nights, not alpine technical climbing. Easy still means five or six hours walking for Du Gia.
